Vale - Norma Holland

Published Mon 17 Aug 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Norma Holland on 16 September 2026— a much-loved friend, an outstanding volunteer and a very special member of our NSW diving family.

Norma dedicated many years to diving and served our community in an extraordinary number of ways:

• Diving NSW Life Member – awarded in 2007

• Diving NSW Board Member and Registrar – 2000–2017

• Diving NSW Board Member – 2017–2019

• Diving NSW Recording Secretary – for many years from 2000

• Level 3 Judge

Norma also made a significant contribution to school sport diving competitions and Diving Australia competitions, serving over many years as competition administration, recording secretary and judge. Her knowledge, reliability and willingness to help ensured countless competitions ran smoothly and gave many young divers the opportunity to enjoy our sport.

Norma's contribution cannot simply be measured by the positions she held. Behind every title were countless hours of service, a genuine commitment to diving and, most importantly, the friendships she formed along the way.

Her Life Membership, awarded in 2007, was fitting recognition of her exceptional service, but to those who knew her, Norma was much more than a volunteer or official. She was a valued colleague, a familiar and reassuring presence at competitions, and above all, a dear friend.

Norma leaves a lasting legacy within our diving community and will be remembered with great affection by the many people whose lives she touched.

Our deepest sympathies are with Norma's family and friends.

Thank you, Norma, for your remarkable contribution, your friendship and the many memories. You will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, Norma.

Forever part of our diving family.

Our sincere condolences to Norma’s family and friends.
